V: The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary R: And she conceived by the Holy Ghost. V: Hail Mary, full of grace: The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. R: Holy Mary, Mother of God: Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. V: Behold, the handmaid of the Lord. R: Be it done unto me according to thy word. V: Hail Mary ... R: Holy Mary ... V: And the Word was made flesh R: And dwelt among us. V: Hail Mary ... R: Holy Mary ... V: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. V: Let us pray. All: Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace unto our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ, our Lord, Amen.
This comes from our priest, Father James, about meditating on the Gospel. It is great and very helpful!
1 Position -(sit in a proper position) 2 Breathe -(close your eyes) breathe deeply and slowly prepare your mind. Make the Sign of the Cross very slowly, ask for the Holy Spirit's help, be aware of God's presence. 3 Read -read the text you want to meditate on at normal speed. Then read it again, slowly thinking about the meaing of each word. 4 Remember -(close your eyes) slowly remember the content of the Gospel. 5 Stay and enjoy -if you are concentrating on a word stay there and enjoy it. Listen and enjoy the word, sentence, situation. 6 Give thanks -give thanks for what you experienced through your meditation. 7 Feel -For a moment, stop thinking and only through you breathing and soul feel the flowing of God's love in you . Finish you prayer with the Sign of the Cross.
If you are distracted go back to steps 2, 3, or 4. Steps 1, 2, and 7 can lead to good prayer.
